What we do
North Sheffield Branch is made up entirely of unpaid volunteers, and like most branches we do not have a rescue centre.
The principal aim of the branch is to bring into care stray unwanted, injured and neglected cats. They are looked after, when ever possible restored to good health, vaccinated, microchipped, and if they are 4 months or older, neutered. They then go on to our homing list for adoption to suitable good homes.
Our small and dedicated team of fosterers, look after the cats in a designated cat room in their own homes. Our rescued cats are kept separate from the fosterers own cats to prevent cross infection.
Whilst the cats are with us we need ro provide food, litter and veterinary care, which is where our fundraising volunteers come to the forefront. Our energetic and hardworking group are out most weekends with their stalls full of interesting items and tombola.
There are many feral cats in Sheffield and we do our best to trap, neuter and return to site as many as possible. Unfortunately due to lack of suitable persons we are not able to do as much as we would like to.
We also promote neutering of all cats to reduce the number of unwanted kittens, many of which do not enjoy good homes. the neutering voucher scheme is available to assist towards the cost for persons on low incomes or benefits.
We also provide information to the public on the care of cats and kittens.
